Welcome to Year 3 in 2018 with Miss Hannah!
Year 3 is a brand new adventure for all of us. We are very lucky to have so many excited faces each and every day. We start each day with our Learning Connection program, daily prayer, our check-ins with our emotions and our mantras.
We have the opportunity this year to explore some interesting concepts. Our highlights for Year 3 in 2018 include:
Religion: students are participating in daily Religion lessons about the following topics: the Church, the initiation sacraments, how to be like Jesus, heroes of the Church, how to pray effectively, meditation, and reflections from the Gospel.
English: exploring different text types (including persuasive texts, narratives, poetry and information texts) as well as engaging in different reading comprehension strategies and spelling rules apart of our DIPL program.
Maths: over the course of the year, students are exposed to a variety of concepts covering: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability strands. By the end of the year, students will become confident in their multiplication facts, work with numbers up to 10 000, tell the time to the nearest minute, match positions on a map, and much more.
Science: this year we are engaging in hands-on experiments and experiences whilst learning about heat transfer, space, living and non-living things, and changes of state by adding or removing heat.
HaSS: we are introducing the subject Civics and Citizenship this year apart of our HaSS learning (joining History and Geography). This year we are travelling around the world to learn about different cultural celebrations, historical changes in society, Australia’s neighbours, and rules and democratic societies.
We are super lucky to have the support our School Officers in the classroom: Miss Lisa, Miss Rene, Miss Charlotte, Miss Sarah and Miss Sonja; as well as Mrs Martin from Learning Enrichment.
Throughout the year we will inundate you photographs via newsletter, Class Dojo and the school Facebook page. We love to share what is happening in our classroom. Check out our weekly homework sheet, our noticeboard and Class Dojo for any updates.
Hope you have a wonderful 2018,
